FIW 6 – Spearwoman

At the last Figurative Illustration Workshop we drew and painted the Spearwoman. I was totally inspired by my friend, Felipe Echevarria. He has a book of Spearwomen paintings that I just love. Thankfully our model was just as excited about the project as I was. It wasn’t nearly as involved as the zombie makeup but fun just as well. Below is the long pose, 2 thirty minute studies, and 2 five minute sketches.

Something about that red makeup on the hands and arms was just so alluring to paint. I can’t wait to approach this subject again from my own perspective.

Once you’re checked out my work, head over to Felipe’s site and grab a copy of his book!
